Project Overview

LARC Construction was contracted to deliver the civil works package as part of a multi-million-pound repair, rejuvenation, and modernisation project within a key strategic MOD facility. The project required compliance with rigorous standards, including AQAP (Allied Quality Assurance Publications), ISO 9001, CDM Regulations 2015, and Building Regulations 2010.

Scope of Works

Our responsibilities covered a wide range of critical infrastructure improvements, including:

• Reinforced Concrete Foundations – Supporting steel-framed buildings, fixed plant, lighting columns, and mezzanine floors.
• Access Improvements – Installation of reinforced concrete ramps for enhanced accessibility within existing buildings.
• Blockwork Construction & Modifications – Building and adapting block-built structures to suit new operational needs.
• Drainage Installations – Upgrading existing drainage systems, including channel drainage and below-ground wastewater connections.
• Safety & Segregation Measures – Installing vehicle and pedestrian segregation systems, including white lining, demarcation, safety fencing, and VRS barriers.
• Concrete Repairs & Enhancements – Performing remedial concrete repairs and installing mechanical movement joints.
• Cable Riser Zone Solutions – Implementing through-floor cable riser zones to support electrical and communication infrastructure.
• Epoxy-Based Solutions – Using epoxy materials to create multi-level access within internal plant rooms.

Project Management & Quality Control

LARC Construction’s role extended beyond physical works to include:

• Technical Oversight – Reviewing drawings, submitting technical queries, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Quality Management – Developing a bespoke Quality Management System, including inspection and testing plans, quality plans, and QA documentation.
• Logistics & Programme Management – Coordinating material orders, managing site logistics, and submitting programme reviews.
• Stakeholder Collaboration – Engaging with clients, specialist contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
